MLB Hat Designs Based Off of Marvel Character's Costumes and Hometowns

Image
I was bored this morning. That's how a lot of things start. I was looking at hats on New Era's website and realized that they have a place where you can design your own hats. Here's the link:  newerabyyou.com As I was going through different teams and designs, I wondered if they had any superhero logos that I could throw on to one of the designs? They did, but it was only Batman and Superman. I wanted more, so I decided to research Marvel hero's hometowns. I didn't have to search long because somebody already put together a full map. Here's the link: http://www.mtv.com/news/1856402/marvel-characters-hometown-map/ I ended up designing close to 30 hats based off of the Marvel character's hometown team and the colors and characteristics of each hero. Be forewarned that there are A LOT of New York hats, but you can't blame me for Stan Lee thinking superheroes are only born in New York City. Also be forewarned that the design options are fairly limited, s...

Colorado Rockies Trade Deadline Targets

The Rockies need some help, especially after the big splash the Arizona Diamondbacks just made ( J.D. Martinez ) and the inevitable upgrades the Dodgers are going to make. But should the Rockies jeopardize their future and make big trades that deplete the farm system? I don't think so. They should be cautious buyers. But there are a few low-risk moves they can make that will improve their club and give them a fighting chance at an NL Wild Card spot. They need a catcher, a veteran starter, a solid relief pitcher and least importantly, a corner outfielder with some pop. Catcher : Kurt Suzuki, Atlanta Braves He'd be a slightly cheaper rental than Alex Avila, and he has been obliterating left-handed pitching this season (wRC+ vs. lefties: 161 ), which he'd see a lot of in the NL West division (LA Dodgers rotation anyone?). He also brings some veteran leadership behind the dish for a very young and inexperienced Rockies rotation. He ranks 20th for catchers in WAR this s...

New Colorado Rockies Statue?

Image
The Milwaukee Brewers are immortalizing Bob Uecker with a statue at Miller Park, so it got me to wondering...who should the Rockies honor with a statue? As of right now, there's "The Player" at the home plate entrance at Coors Field. "The Player" honors Branch Rickey, who I personally adore, but I think we need to pick either a Rockies' player or manager to bronze next. Below is a poll with some of my ideas for the next Coors Field statue. Vote Now! Who Should the Rockies Honor with a Statue at Coors Field? Todd Helton (Final out of 2007 NLCS game) Larry Walker (1997 All-Star Game) Dante Bichette (Fist Pump and mullet) Troy Tulowitzki (Might as well get a head start) Matt Holliday (2007 Wild Card Slide, with interactive blood spurting from chin) Mike Hampton and Denny Neagle counting money Don Baylor (Because he's a boss and would scare away pigeons) Jim Tracy (Oh, wait...he already is a statue) Acepolls ...
