I'm Sick and Tired of the Colorado Rockies

This is going to end up being the worst season in Colorado Rockies' history. How convenient that it ended up this way during the "Year of the Fan". Were they serious with this promotion? I'd rather see the "We're Tired of Dan" season, where fans boycott the games until Dan O'Dowd is fired. What kills me is that the Rockies' General Manager, Dan O'DUD, doesn't understand how to put together a team that is built for Coors Field. What you need are power hitters and power pitchers with a few speedsters mixed into the lineup. Cargo, who happens to be a 5-tools player, needs to stay in Colorado. Period. Dexter, who brings speed, defense, and a little bit of pop, needs to stay. Rosario needs to go through defensive boot camp during the off-season, and then he can stay. Pacheco, Rutledge and Colvin have had great seasons and deserve starting jobs next season. Tulo, who is only ever worried about himself, and is only ever healthy every other s...

Colorado Rockies: Week One

The Colorado Rockies' are 2-4 in their first six games of the 2012 season. The season is young, but it feels old. Michael Cuddyer is the obvious choice for the Colorado Rockies' player of the week. Not only is he producing without much help around him, but he's also showing a lot of heart and hustle. He's turned out to be a very nice pick-up for the Rockies, and I can only hope that his playing style rubs off on the other players within the next couple of weeks.

Your browser does not support iframes.

Juan Nicasio pitched very well in his MLB return. He threw seven innings and allowed only one earned run on five hits and one walk. It's a breath of fresh air to see Nicasio pick up where he left off after his very serious injury last season. He's worked very hard and has overcome a lot of physical and emotional pain to be where he is, and I'm glad to see him succeeding so far this season. <p...

Preview of the Colorado Rockies' 25-Man Roster

Image
Jim Tracy has set the 25-man roster, and Houston, I don't think we have a problem...do we? Let's take a brief look at the 25 guys who will be on the 2012 Opening Day roster. C. Ramon Hernandez Hernandez had a dismal spring offensively, but he caught 85 innings and only made one error while throwing out 66% of the base stealers. He'll be solid defensively and undeniably crucial to the young pitching staff, but his age will limit his innings. C. Wilin Rosario Rosario had a very impressive spring, leading the Rockies with four home runs, eight doubles, 43 total bases, and a 1.213 OPS. Rosario is currently ranked as the Rockies' number three prospect in their system, and should establish himself as the Rockies main back-stop this season. 1B. Todd Helton Helton returns for his 15th season as the Rockies' opening day first-baseman. Helton crushed the ball this spring, with eight doubles, two home runs, ten runs scored, nine RBI, and an OPS of 1.179. It see...

The Rockies' Bash Brothers

Dexter Fowler won't be called lanky anymore, and Carlos Gonzalez will now be referred to as Large-O. The two outfielders put on a combined weight of 35 pounds during the off-season. That’s like adding another Eric Young Jr. to the team. Both players believe that the extra muscle and weight will help them better endure the wear and tear of the 2012 season. Last season, Carlos Gonzalez admitted that he wasn’t physically or mentally ready for the 2011 season, which showed in his early season performance. As the season progressed, CarGo found his way back to his 2010 form, but a few unfortunate wall crashes placed CarGo on the bench with an injured wrist. Now, CarGo is physically and mentally prepared for the season and he looks to live up to his goal of a 40-40 season. The idea of 40 stolen bases might be more of a dream, but 40 homeruns seems like a certain reality. Dexter Fowler always looked like a boy wearing his daddy’s uniform. His pants were baggy, his jersey was l...

Rockies Gearing Up For 2012 Season

Image
The grass is fresh, the sun is out, and purple pinstripes are back to being acceptable on clothing. All of the Rockies' players have reported to camp, and the first Spring Training game is this Saturday, March 3, against the Diamondbacks. Another season of Rockies baseball is upon us, and my expectations are deservingly high for a revamped Rockies team. I have extremely high expectations for the Rockies this season because the Rockies made numerous moves and non-moves that sent away a slew of fan favorites. Don't get me wrong, I understand that sometimes there needs to be change for a team to grow, but I need these changes to leave no doubt in my mind that these were the right moves for the team. I need to trust and believe that the Rockies feel like a team of older, hard-nosed veterans will be able to constantly defeat younger, more athletic teams such as the Diamondbacks, Giants, Padres, and Dodgers. My doubts are there, but I will continue to root for my home team, because t...

Fantasy Rockies

It's that time of year again. It's time to play GM. It's time to prove to all of your friends and a few strangers that you're better than them at filling out an MLB roster. And what wins leagues? Sleepers. Both Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez will go within the first 15 picks, but who are the guys on the Rockies that are flying under the radar that might be beneficial to your team? Here's a list of a few names that can be great bench additions, or even starters come opening day. Michael Cuddyer Ranked: 73 Average pick in mock drafts: 81.4 Cuddyer has eligibility at first base, second base, and the outfield. This makes him a wonderful option as your utility player or even your second base option due to the lack of depth at the position. He's going later than expected and that might be due to his age and change of scenery, but Coors Field should bump up his stats. Expect about the same production from Cuddyer in 2012 that he had in 2011. He's a ...
